Tamera
TameraPronunciation: Tam-eh-rah (Tam rhymes with Dam)Population: 390,000 Continent: Teidris? Government: Theocracy Founded 1622TL Capital: Jah'ala Racial Balance: Primarily Human and Halfling? Tamera is a nation founded upon deeply-held principles of honesty, faith, and fairness; the Tameran reputation for fair trade, coupled with their varied lands capable of producing many varieties of goods, and the nation's ample sea- and land-based trade routes have made them a powerhouse in Anoth Peras' global economy. Indeed, it is likely that - financially speaking - they are the most formidable nation of all. ![]() Tamera is located in the center of Teidris, the largest continent of Anoth Peras. It occupies perhaps one third of the continent, and forty percent of its border is against the sea. Its direct neighbors are Keiruki, Pakao?, Toracroix, Schiss?, Schassi?, and Weiss?. The ruling body is comprised of three priests; one of Nirya, one of Codrim, and - traditionally - one of Ciarn. The three govern as led by their faith; classically, this provided a three-party system that reinforced stability and unity. However, the recent death of god Ciarn has introduced turbulence into the government; although Edar Kahjan, Tameran high priest of Ciarn, has not been removed from his post he no longer carries the benefit and enlightenment of his deity. Beneath the three high priests are orders of lesser priests in a feudal topography, each managing a smaller territory than the priest above him. At the lowest level of this caste lie the common temple-priests, who wield no legal power outside the temple walls. Tamera uses a metric approach consisting of three coins; the smallest is the silver Chellah at five ounces, the middle Tarvah at ten, made out of electrum; and the largest, a ten-ounce gold coin called the Nahtar. Ten Chellah make one Tarvah, while ten Tarvah are worth one Nahtar. For comparison, one Tarvah is worth 2.63 Cerrin. Tamera's economy is supported by a massive number of trade routes spanning both land and sea. It is the only nation in Anoth Peras with a completely free market, and as such is the de facto distribution point for product and stores of every kind. Tamera itself produces and exports crops, spices, gems and metals.
