Attack Procedure

This is the complete procedure for making a ranged or melee attack in Mithica. It is essentially the same as in mainstream Dungeons & Dragons.

1. Announce your attack. This can be something simple like "I attack the Orc closest to me."
2. Roll d20. If you roll a 19 or 20 (with most weapons - your DM will tell you if yours is different) you roll a critical hit, and you may roll damage twice in step 4. You add your attack bonus to this number - making it technically possible to roll over 20. Critical hits, however, only apply on the actual (natural) dice roll.
3. Wait. The DM will tell you whether or not you hit, based on what you rolled, your attack bonus, the enemy's armor class, and any other modifiers.
4. Roll damage when the DM tells you to. Add your Strength bonus to this roll (but do not add it twice for critical hits.)
5. Your turn is over!
