Mithica: An Overview
It is difficult to sum up, upon reflection, exactly what differentiates the Mithican setting from other, commercial settings - Forgotton Realms, Eberron, and Greyhawk to name but the most prominent. I do not have an answer for expressly this question, at least where persons other than myself are concerned - but for me it's very much because I find it difficult (if not impossible) to work creatively with a setting that is not largely my own.

Granted, this does not explain why you would want to run a campaign in Runne, as the purchase that Isenna has upon me is that of a creator's magnum opus; but I think I have a few suggestions.

Firstly, that the setting is free of charge. This is not because I want to expressly avoid profiting from this - it's more because I know full well that profit is impossible. An added bonus is that players can explore this resource as well as Dungeon Masters - and the more they know, the more they can enter this world.

Secondly, the setting will continue to be improved upon and expanded by myself. The world will continue to change and grow; it can only become better as time goes on, while the packaged settings grow stale.

Thirdly, a great deal of culture and detail exists in this setting. A great many minute details that one would need be quite mad to write down are recorded here - once this wiki is complete, there will be very little of the world and its contents that escape description.

Finally, the much-celebrated Drizz't Do'Urden is found nowhere in Mithica. This, if nothing else, should count for something.
